30 Members enjoyed a gorgeous spring outing up to the Dandenongs.

Our first stop was to the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden in Olinda. We had a lovely time wandering around the garden, either on foot or by trolley, admiring the plethora of Rhodedendrons, Azaleas, Warratah, Baronia and many other spring flowering plants.

Of particular interest was the Chelsea Australian Garden at Olinda, which has been recreated from the original, which won Gold and Best in Show at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2013. The scale of this garden is much larger than the original tennis court sized showgarden. Set around a pond and waterfall the garden was at its springtime best, and includes the Corten steel waratah sculpture also made for the 2013 show.

Our next stop was ta visit to the Wishing Well Nursery in Silvan South, where members were able to purchase many colourful spring plants to add to their gardens.

On to Lilydale for a delicious 2 course lunch at the Crown Hotel, before arriving back at the club just after 3pm.

Another wonderful day out organised by out trip co-ordinator, Marilla.
