In his illustrated presentation, Rod spoke on Heritage Trees that are listed on the National Trusts of Australia Register of Significant Trees. This Register was created to protect and celebrate Australia’s heritage and trees are on this Register due to their rarity, size or cultural historical value.

Rod also spoke on trees in the Boroondara area and how the public may go on line at www.trusttees.org.au to nominate a tree for the Register for Heritage Trees.

The Significant Tree Committee  may accept the nomination against the nationally agreed criteria. The Register is not a legal binding document and for the tree to be protected it must be on the local council Register.
