Mystery Trip - Springvale Nurseries

On a chilly morning under grey skies, 20 members set off on our ‘Mystery Trip’.  The bus travelled in a south easterly direction with our members guessing where our destination would be.  After a short while, we arrived at our first stop, ‘Pots Galore,’ Springvale Rd, Sp. Expecting to see garden pots only, we were all surprised to see a large range of succulents of all shapes and sizes. The large site also had a general nursery of camellias, azaelas, flowering plants and shrubs, fruit trees and garden pots.

After making our purchases we then proceeded to nearby Garden World. At Collectors Corner, display cases held sea shells, fossils, gem stones and semi -precious stones and minerals. There were also larger than lifesize specimens of Amethyst crystals.   In a prehistoric setting of cacti and other plants, 2 life size dinosaurs were displayed.

A hothouse held indoor plants with small, bright veined leaves, colourful phalaenopsis and cattleya orchids, hoyas and ferns.

More purchases were made and only a short time was left to see the adjacent  GardenWorld  plant nursery.

The weather held with only an occasional light shower and after an enjoyable lunch at the Waltzing Maltilda Hotel we had an early return home.
