Blue Lotus Water Garden, Yarra Junction

You are here

Thursday, 15 March, 2018

NB: Special attention made to the change of destination on the 15th March from Melton Botanic Gardens to the Blue Lotus Water Garden, Yarra Junction. Lunch will be at the Cunningham Hotel, as it will be a full day the cost will be $30.

60 Members enjoyed the trip to the Blue Lotus Water Garden, which opened to the public in 2006. It was the perfect temperature for wandering around the 50,000 square meters of gardens for 2 hours. There are over 30 lakes, ponds and lagoons to view filled with magnificent displays of lotus and waterlily varieties. The main lake 'Monet's Lake' is well named and includes a fabulous bridge walk right along the centre of the lake for excellent viewing.

After a lovely lunch at the Cunningham Hotel, we had stopped at Kuranga Native Nursery in Mount Evelyn. We had an hour to wander around the nursery and purchase plants, garden art and other goodies from the extensive gift shop.

Thank-you for yet another great day out.
