Rose Creek Estate, East Keilor

Thursday, 16 March, 2017

Another wet morning greeted us for our Autumn Trip, but the luckily rain had cleared by the time we reached our first stop. Our destination was Rose Creek Estate in East Keilor. The 7 acre property has been in the hands of the Siciliano for many years and they have won many awards for their wine and olive oils. The house and vineyard are surrounded by 300 olive trees, fresh fruit and vegetables.

After a beautiful morning tea of scones, jam and cream, as well as a selection of delicious cakes and buscuits, we spent a couple of hours exploring the garden, tasting and purchasing the wine and olive oil. It truly is an oasis in the middle of the suburbs!! Each month they sell their produce at various Farmers' Markets. Visit their website for dates. http://www.rosecreekestate.com.au

We continued our day with a lovely two course lunch at Moonee Valley Racecourse, then off to Thomastown to the Plantmark wholesale nursery for some garden purchases. The luggage section under the bus did look funny filled with all the pots of colour.

A fantastic trip - a big thank-you to Margaret and Karen for organising it!!
