Oasis Horticulture & McClelland Sculpture Park, Langwarrin

We had a lovely sunny day for our spring trip to Oasis Horticulture, near Cranbourne. They are one of the largest producers and distributors of bedding plants in Australia and supply to many well known hardware stores, supermarkets and independent nurseries. After our morning tea, we were given a tour, beginning in the seedling planting area, where seedlings are mechanically planted into punnets, watered, labelled and stacked on racks for transportation. Next we walked around the hot houses where large coloured pots sat in colour groupings, and large mixed plant hanging baskets sat in pretty rows. After our tour we were delightfully surprised with a whole tray of punnets of seedlings for each member!!! A very generous gift indeed!!

Our next stop was McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park in Langwarrin, where we were treated to a delicious lunch in the McClelland Cafe. After lunch we were free to wander around the park or join in a guided tour with one of the very knowlegable volunteers. The park has over 100 permanent outdoor sculptures set amongst landscaped gardens, lakes and ti-tree forrests. We even had time for a browse in the gift shop.

Another great trip!!
