Earimil Gardens, Mt Eliza

The forecast for the day of our trip to Mt Eliza was for wild winds, rain and thunderstorms. Not the best for wandering around the beautiful Earimil Gardens. Being hardy souls we all arrived at 9am rugged up with scarves, coats and umbrellas.

Luckily the sun was shining as we pulled up at the gardens. Elaine greeted us and ushered us inside for a delicious morning tea of scones, jam and cream. The cafe overlooked the pool and a very choppy Port Phillip Bay beyond. Elaine talked to us about her labour of love, turning 3 acres of hillside into her magnificent garden over many years. The garden was a mass of springtime colour and offered glimpses of sea vistas from various vantage points.

After a couple of hours exploring the gardens we headed into Frankston to the Daveys Hotel for lunch. No sooner than we sat down to eat the heavens opened up and we had a great view of the horizontal rain over the bay through the picture windows.

On our return home we had time for a short stop at Gardenworld and again the weather was on our side and gave us 45 mins of sun for us to wander around the nursery and purchase a few plants. Another squall passed through as we were driving home and again the rain held off as we headed for our cars. Someone was definitely looking after us!
