Cloudehill Gardens, Olinda

Our Christmas Trip this year was to Mt Dandenong to visit the beautiful Cloudehill Gardens, where we started the day with a delicious morning tea in the Seasons Restaurant.

We were then divided into two groups and given a tour of the beautiful and extensive gardens. There are many magnificent mature trees of many varieties, which provide a perfect backdrop to the riot of summer colour of the herbaceous borders in each of the garden rooms. There is also an extensive use of hedging and topiary, which provide shelter from the wind and harsh sun. A large number of artworks are installed throughout the gardens, which adds another dimension to every vista.

We also had plenty of time to wander through the Forest Walk where we came across a few Lyrebirds scratching in the undergrowth.

After exploring these magnificently tranquil gardens for a couple of hours we headed to the Mt Dandenong Hotel for our Christmas Lunch.

It was a really lovely day out to finish the year for the Club.
