Monsalvat, Eltham

Thursday, 10 December, 2009

On Thursday 10th December we set off on our Christmas trip to Monsalvat in Eltham, Australia’s oldest artists’ colony. It is still home to many practicing artists and is set in 12 acres of established gardens. Upon our arrival we were greeted at the café with a delicious morning tea of scones, jam and cream which we enjoyed sitting outside under the shade of some large trees.

After morning tea we were free to explore the historic buildings and vast gardens. Peacocks frolicking near the Great Hall made a colourful display!

After leaving Monsalvat we celebrated with a traditional Christmas Lunch at Eltham Hotel. The tables were decorated festively and everyone had a lovely time.

During lunch we drew many raffle prizes and here are the happy winners!
