On Thursday 13thDecember we met at Chambly at 10am and headed off to the Yarra Valley for our Christmas lunch at the RACV Club in Healesville. As we would be having a large lunch it was decided to leave a bit later than usual and forego stopping for morning tea. We therefore had time to detour en route to Maroondah Reservoir for a short stroll. We were all surprised to see just how low the water level was, even though we are all aware that we are under extreme drought conditions.

On our arrival at the RACV Club we were ushered into a very large room, all beautifully set for our Christmas lunch. The tables were set with festive centre pieces and red and green napkins adorned each place setting. Once everyone was seated the sound of bon-bons being pulled filled the air, and we knew that Christmas had arrived. Lunch was delicious. Traditional roast turkey followed by individual plum puddings was enjoyed by all. Coffee was served accompanied by small mince pies.

During the lunch several raffle prizes were drawn, including wine, chocolates and shortbread to tie in with the festive occasion.

After our lunch we staggered on to the bus and for a short visit to Maroondah Garden Centre in Healesville. Although not a very big nursery it was very pretty and offered an opportunity to purchase some Christmas presents or simply wander around and admire the plants.

It was a really lovely day, enjoyed by everyone. Thank-you to Beatrice and Imelda for all their work in organizing such a great outing.
