33 members had a lovely spring morning for our trip to Castlemaine. Arriving in town we had almost an hour to explore. Some needed coffee and others perused the shops and made a some purchases.
We proceeded to Buda for lunch, beautifully presented to us in the garden room, all seated on one long table.
After lunch we were divided into two groups: one to do a tour of the house, and the other to have a guided tour of the gardens.
Buda, named after its Hungarian owners hometown of budapest, is an authentic goldfields villa house, set in 3 acres of delightful garden. The house was owned by the Leviny family for 118 years. The daughters were all very creative and many art works and furniture made by them remain in the house.
The extensive gardens were looking gorgeous, with spring bulbs popping their heads up everywhere and blossom trees providing plenty of nectar for the busy bees.
A wonderful days outing, thank you to helen for organising such a great trip.
