We had a very quick trip down the freeway to Baxter for our visit to Sages Cottage Farm. The early settler’s farmhouse and outbuildings date back to the 1850’s, still set in large treed grounds and now heritage protected.
On our arrival we made our way into The Stables cafe, where we were treated to the most delicious and enormous scones with jam and cream for morning tea.
We admired the magnificent purple wisteria draped over the original Sages home, followed by a teriffic guided tour of the extensive cottage gardens with its stunning spring display of purple, pink and white blooms everywhere.
We also enjoyed meeting an assortment of farm animals and birds; turkey, friendly hens, goats and two very funny pigs! A really enjoyable morning, despite the chilly wind.
Our lunch spot today was at The Cove Hotel in Patterson Lakes. The two course lunch was filling and delicious with lots of different choices.
After lunch we stopped at Gardenworld in Braeside for some garden necessities, before heading for home.
A lovely day out. Thank you to the organisers for another fantastic day out!
