This outing was an enjoyable day for all our 31 keen club members attending the trip.

In the Function Centre a talk and display was presented on plants for courtyard gardens and bird-attracting native species. Courtyard varieties such as roses, daphne, gardenia, murraya, azalea, rhododendron, camellia along with a lemon fruit tree where some of the popular plants discussed. Some bird attracting species were banksia, grevillea and correa. It was noted how important it is feeding and pruning our plants to obtain the best results and enjoyment in the garden.

We came away with more knowledge on use and selection of the best plants for our specific needs. Many of our members have small plots which they want to enjoy by ‘smelling the roses’ and knowing they have chosen a plant which suits their garden.
After the interesting presentations we had a short venture into the nursery to search for some of the plants mentioned.

The trip out and back was full of interest with many different views of gardens and native bush on what is still very much the edge of suburbia.
