On Thursday 15thOctober 51 members set off for Castlemaine, stopping in between rain showers for morning tea at the Kyneton Botanical Gardens by the Campaspie River. The Kyneton Gardens feature daffodils and the Alistair Clarke Rose Garden.
Arriving in Castlemaine we visited Buda historic home. Some very enthusiastic volunteers took us on an informative tour through the house and gardens. One of Buda’s former owners was the talented Leviny family whose works of art encompassing embroidery, photography, woodwork and metal work are displayed throughout the home. The beautiful rambling gardens were inviting with their winding paths continually surprising. A few showers sent members scurrying for cover in the wisteria covered garden pavilion or the house.
Lunch was enjoyed in The Garden Room, which looks out onto the gardens on three sides.
