Club member, Suzanne Hume spoke about the various gardens she visited en route to Canberra in January 2022. A slideshow of all the places she visited accompanied her presentation.

At Albury, Yindymarra Sculpture Gardens featured contemporary aboriginal sculptures among mature gum trees and Tarcutta Gardens, established and maintained by the Tarcutta Garden Club, had interesting sculptures made from recycled metal among crepe myrtles.

In Canberra, gardens visited were the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, the National Museum of Australia, Anzac Parade, the National Arboretum, Calthorpe House, Blundell’s Cottage, Lanyon Homestead and the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

The National Arboretum has vast groves of conifers and Cotinus Grace ‘smoke bush’ and the National Bonsai Collection.

The Australian National Botanic Gardens has plantings relating to Rainforest Gully, Rock Gardens Red Centre Garden, Sydney Region, Paperbark Gardens, Banksia Garden and Mallee Shrublands.

On the journey home, Suzanne visited Harden Murrumburrah (silo art), Victory Memorial Gardens-Wagga Wagga, Milbrulong (water tower art), Lockhart (water tower art), Devenish (silo art) and Goorambat (silo art).

The final places visited were Lake Mokoan, Winton Wetlands with water tank art, sculptures and tree art with the dead trees giving a surreal landscape and Benalla Botanical gardens.
