Joan delighted members as she deftly demonstrated several large and small vase arrangements using lilies, alstromeria and roses, along with filler flowers such as gypsophila. She stressed the importance of using sufficient greenery as a backing to ensure a natural look. Joan also created a shallow floral bowl -a most useful way to use small or short stem flowers for the house. Joan’s tips included grouping flowers in odd numbers eg 3 or 5 and keeping the proportion of foliage (two thirds) to vase size (one third) to help maintain a pleasing balance of the arrangement.
Joan generously donated the vases and floral displays as door prizes which were won by several happy members.
Jenny Trevitt thanked Joan on behalf of members and made a small presentation to Joan for her excellent contribution to the morning’s program.
