Guest speakers Stephen and Meryl Early are hobbyist orchid lovers with over 2000 orchids grown under shade cloth.
Stephen gave useful practical advice on orchid needs such as potting media, (bark and shell mix), watering needs (emphasizing summer watering), a shady location, and fertilizer (dolomite useful, along with most balanced fertilizers).
He showcased a large range of orchids from Australia and around the world, including some very rare species, with stunning slides of many blooms which he and Meryl have cultivated. There was also an interesting table display with potted orchids and cards.
