Pat Wilson explained that she qualified as a Professor of Ikebana over a five and a half year period. This is a recognised qualification and very expensive to study, being run by men in Japan, where there are four major schools, along with many smaller ones.
Pat provided members with a very interesting demonstration starting by teaching us how to wrap a posy. Pat then demonstrated several very effective floral arrangements, including a simple statement arrangement in a specimen vase, a single flower with foliage in a basket and a fishbowl table arrangement with a single flower in water.
Pat had lots of lovely handmade items available for sale, including delicate handmade butterflies, handmade soaps and lots of different artificial flowers.
